I've got spring fever in my veins and the slightest signs of its appearance make my heart swell with delight. On top of that, I've been aching to jump into some projects with a decidedly springtime feel, but I don't dare. You see, I'm working on a Christmas assignment at the moment and I'm like the horse who needs blinders. One step in the direction of spring and this whole holiday vibe will disintegrate in a heartbeat. Fortunately we've been having plenty of cloudy, rainy, somewhat chilly days to keep me in check.
But I did take a little detour from my holiday frame of mind this past weekend. A friend and colleague, Brie Williams, was photographing my cousin's house for Garden & Gun. I tagged along to do the styling and I'm so glad I did! The photographs are so wonderful we almost had to pinch ourselves to believe we pulled it off. I can't wait to share it with you when it hits the newsstand (and tell you more about my cousin in the process).
It was a long, labor filled day, as most shoot days are, but I stole a few moments to photograph this bowl of Coral Honeysuckle, native to Louisiana, which had just made its appearance in the garden. After the long days of winter, this promise of spring was just what I needed and it cleared my brain fog better than five cups of coffee. Which makes me realize that I really must hurry up and finish with all of this Christmas business so I can jump into spring with both feet. I'm guessing after the long, dramatic winter that most of the country has experienced, the rest of you feel exactly the same.
