I've pored over thousands of black-and-white photos on Etsy in the last few days (a great way to procrastinate when you can't find your groove). Here are a few standouts that I want to add to my collection:
Anemone 3 from Au fil de
Softness of a Dandelion by Amelia Kay Photography
Sea Jewels No. 3 by Tracey Capone Photography

It's a sea urchin shell in black and white capture.

Have you tried Stock Exchange? It's a photostock site with a lot of photos available for free. Some are B&W and others can be grayscaled. I used a number of their images for Tweeted Blessings.
Also there's a Library of Congress photo collection that Lisa and I spent months browsing. You can download all these antique news photos at super high resolutions, pretty much the entire WPA poster collection, lots of turn of the century theater posters, all the Farm Administration B&Ws of migrant farm workers from the 30s and 40s... seriously cool stuff.
